First Look at Jude Law in Deep Sea Thriller 'Black Sea'
Submarine movies don't come out often anymore, perhaps because they all get compared to two of the finest, Das Boot and Run Silent, Run Deep. The confined quarters and pressures of the underwater depths lends itself naturally to tense, dramatic thrillers, and that's what director Kevin MacDonald and star Jude Law hope to bring to the surface with Black Sea.
The first photos from the submarine film have been released via EW, and while a couple of the images are pretty tame, in one we see Law having made quite the golden discovery. He plays an unemployed sea captain hired to find a sunken sub full of Nazi gold, but he runs into trouble from his ragtag crew threatening mutiny. And by the way, in EW's story MacDonald notes both Das Boot and Run Silent, Run Deep as inspirations, so there ya go. I can't be the only one who really dug U-571, right?
Co-starring Scoot McNairy, Black Sea should arrive in 2014.
