Filming on Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction moved to Hong Kong yesterday, and either the local citizens are really upset about that or the director has gotten mixed up with a dangerous crowd. According to police, Bay was attacked by two local brothers on the film's set, sustaining minor injuries in the process. He wasn't hurt enough to force a hospital stay and reports are he continued filming, but the explosions were said to be extra big for the rest of the day. Ok, I added that last part.
Apparently the brothers approached Bay and requested $100K in cash, although no reason was given for the demand. An argument then broke out, and the older brother walked up and laid the smack down on Bay, before attempting to fight off three police officers trying to break things up. The brothers were eventually arrested and charged with suspicion of blackmail and assault.
So what do we have here? Is Bay mixed up with the Hong Kong mob or something? Or are these just a couple of loons making the worst case for a ransom ever? Didn't they see Pain & Gain? You have to kidnap the guy first.
If the goal was to slow production on Transformers: Age of Extinction they screwed up royal because it's still set to open June 27th 2014. [Reuters]
