New U2 Song Powers Latest Trailer for 'Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom'

It's not a surprise that Bono and U2 would want to provide a new track for Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. The band has been supporters of the South African civil rights leader for years, and considering their past success with Harvey Weinstein on the music for Gangs of New York, they probably jumped when he came calling.

So the latest trailer for the Idris Elba-led drama features U2's first original song in three years, 'Ordinary Love', while providing another look at the potential Oscar contender. Directed by Justin Chadwick and co-starring Naomie Harris as Winnie, the film follows Mandela's rise to prominence beginning with his upbringing and eventual imprisonment. Playing at Toronto last month it was met with decent reviews, but it was Elba's performance that drew the highest praise.

Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom opens November 29th, but those in the DC/VA area can see it at the Middleburg Film Festival beginning October 24th.
