Reese Witherspoon is 'Happily Ever After'; Pierce Brosnan in 'I.T.'; Rodrigo Santoro Nets 'Pele' Biopic

 * Fairy tale reimaginings that offer a new spin on classic storybook characters are becoming old and tired, but that won't stop Disney from giving us one more. They've landed Reese Witherspoon to produce and star in Happily Ever After, a comedy that follows a prince and princess 10 years after they rode off into the sunset for their "happy" fairy tale ending. What they learn is that even fantasy characters have to work at keeping a marriage together. Sounds kind of blah, and considering it comes from a pitch by Nahnatchka Khan, creator of the awful and short-lived series Don't Trust the B**** in Apartment 23, chances are it won't be at all funny.  [THR]

* Pierce Brosnan is set to star in revenge thriller I.T., and if you guessed it was about a disgruntled I.T. consultant then you win!! Brosnan plays a book publisher whose family and livelihood are threatened by a vengeful, tech savvy computer whiz. Italian director Steffano Sillima is at the helm, with production to begin next year after the villain role is cast. [Deadline]

* A biopic on the greatest soccer player ever (what's this football thing?) is ready to take the field as Pele has filled out its cast. Written and directed by Michael and Jeff Zimbalist, the film chronicles Pele's rise out of the Brazilian slums to become a national hero. Kevin de Paula and Leonardo Lima Carvalho will play him at various stages of his life, while Rodrigo Santoro, Vincent D'onofrio, Diego Boneta (Rock of Ages), Colm Meaney, and Seu Jorge co-star. Santoro, who will also serve as a producer, will take on a role that is being kept under wraps. [THR]
