Shia LaBeouf Goes On a European Vacation in the 'Charlie Countryman' Trailer

Dying for love would be a pretty cool way to go. Or at least that's what Shia Labeouf's character thinks in Charlie Countryman, the directorial debut by commercials helmer Fredrik Bond. Labeouf plays the title character, a lovestruck American in Europe who falls for the wrong gal but, as we see in the first official trailer, love can make one do some crazy things.

Boasting some impressive, surreal visual flourishes capturing the mood of irrational love, the film centers on Countryman and his attempt to win the heart of Gabi (Evan Rachel Wood), a Romanian woman who happens to be married to a dangerous local gangster (Mads Mikkelsen) with no problem using violence to get what he wants. It's a little bit True Romance meets a Euro-gangster film, but the consensus out of Sundance wasn't too good. There's a reason it failed to generate much in the way of positive buzz despite a cast that also includes Oscar-winner Melissa Leo, Rupert Grint, and Til Schweiger.

Charlie Countryman hits theaters on November 15th.
