Trailer for Latino-Themed 'Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones'

Never fear, found footage horror fans! Even though there's no Paranormal Activity coming this Halloween, a double-dose of cheaply-produced scares are on the way in 2014. And while we can pretty much expect that the same shaky cam/jump scare formula will be in effect for the most part, at least we can expect the setting of Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones to offer a little something different.

The first trailer for the Latino-themed film has been released and it seems to be more of a side story than a true sequel. Set in an urban locale, which means gangs are in the mix obviously, the story seems to involve evil spirits marking their intended victims with nasty bite marks, leading to an investigation into Catholic-based mythology. The Katie demon makes a brief appearance but it's unclear just how much of a connection there is with next fall's Paranormal Activity 5. It doesn't really matter, does it?

So prepare for lots of loud noises and household items getting hurled in your general direction. Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones opens January 3rd 2014.
