Colin Firth to Star in Christopher McQuarrie's 'Three to Kill'

Although we can still count on Colin Firth to deliver the serious character dramas like Railway Man and Devil's Knot, lately he's been branching off into more action-heavy fare. He's set to star in The Secret Service, based on the comic book by Kick-Ass creator Mark Millar, and now Firth has joined a gritty crime thriller from Jack Reacher director, Christopher McQuarrie.

Firth is set to star in Three to Kill, an adaptation of Jean-Patrick Manchette's novel Le Petit Bleu de la Côte Ouest to be directed by McQuarrie and written by Howard Rodman. Manchette's work has suddenly become very popular around Hollywood as Sean Penn is currently filming a big screen version of the author's Prone GunmanThree to Kill centers on a Paris businessman who witnesses a murder and suddenly becomes the psychopathic killers' next target.

No word on when this will roll but it will have to wait until McQuarrie is finished with Mission: Impossible 5, not to mention the other projects he has cooking.  [Deadline]
