Double the Van Damme: First Look at 'Swelter'; Plus New Poster for 'Enemies Closer'
When he's not busy getting spoofed by Channing Tatum, Jean-Claude Van Damme is busy making movies at a pretty impressive clip. Many of these will never end up in a multiplex in your town but it's great to see the "Muscles from Brussels" is still getting paid to jumpkick fools the world over. Anyway, he's got a pair of flicks on the way so get ready for a double impact of new images. See what I did there?
Right off the bat we have the very first image from Swelter, which recently sold out all of its international markets at the American Film Market, which is pretty impressive and guaranteed we'll have a U.S. release date soon. Directed by Keith Parmer, the crime flick co-stars Catalina Sandino Moreno, Alfred Molina, Lennie James, and Freya Tingley. Here's the official synopsis:
SWELTER is the story of the most notorious robbery in Las Vegas history. Five men, nicknamed the Rat Pack, hit the Luxor Casino for over one hundred million dollars. Four of the men are soon captured, while one barely escapes. Ten years later, after blasting their way out of a maximum-security prison, the four jailed members of the Rat Pack are hot on the trail of their former accomplice and the remaining ten million in stolen cash. The trail leads them to a dying desert town less than a hundred miles from the scene of the crime where they find their former partner is not the man he once was...he's become a law-abiding sheriff without any memory of his past. The sheriff must now remember his violent history in order to protect all that he holds dear.
And on January 24th of next year Van Damme will reunite with Timecop and Sudden Death director Peter Hyams for Enemies Closer. The first poster has been released for the action-thriller which co-stars Orlando Jones (Sleepy Hollow) and Tom Everett Scott. Check out the plot for that one:
After a major shipment of drugs goes missing on the US-Canadian border, forest ranger and former Navy SEAL Henry is plunged into survival mode when the drug cartel forces him to help retrieve the downed package. Trapped in the wilderness with no communication to the outside world, Henry finds himself face to face with Clay, a man with a personal vendetta against Henry who has returned for retribution. Now, the two mortal enemies must make a choice: put aside their past and work together, or die alone at the hands of the drug runners, a ruthless gang who will stop at nothing to retrieve their lost cargo.
