Finally, 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Lands a Release Date

First up, after years of development and delays caused by everything including torrential storms. George Miller's Mad Max: Fury Road will open on May 15th 2015. Well, at least we hope it will. Filming began three years ago on what is expected to be a new trilogy featuring Tom Hardy in the role made famous by Mel Gibson in three films starting in 1979.

Co-starring Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and possibly Mel Gibson (as some guy named "Drifter"), the film has Max racing across Wasteland in a war rig driven by Imperator Furiosa.

We'll see if the date sticks because Mad Max: Fury Road is surrounded by hardcore competition. On May 1st is Marvel's likely juggernaut The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and then on May 22nd comes another Disney gut punch when Brad Bird and George Clooney's Tomorrowland opens.
