Gavin O'Connor Takes Over for Ben Affleck on 'Tell No One' Remake
Major League Baseball may not have an award for the league's best pinch hitter, but if there was one for Hollywood directors it would go to Gavin O'Connor. The Warrior director was the guy to replace Lynne Ramsay when that whole Jane Got A Gun thing blew up. And now that it's finished, he's moving in to replace Ben Affleck on the long-developing Tell No One remake.
Variety reports that O'Connor will bring Harlan Coben's acclaimed crime-mystery novel to the big screen, which Guillaume Canet adapted into an excellent French film back in 2006. Chris Terrio, Affleck's writing partner on Argo, penned the script which centers on a man whose wife goes missing and he is the prime suspect. However, eight years as he's suspected in another killing, clues begin to emerge that his wife may actually be alive. It's a great story, one that translated well as a French movie and should work even better over here.
No word on when this will start rolling, but Warner Bros. and Universal have been shepherding this for awhile so it should be soon.
