Gerard Butler to Star in Revived 'Kane & Lynch'; Vin Diesel Eyed to Co-Star
Somebody must have punched in the "Contra code" for video game adaptation Kane & Lynch because it seems to have a ton of extra lives. The best-selling first person shooter has been eyed by Hollywood for years now, at one point with Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx attached to the lead roles and Wayne Kramer (The Cooler) directing. You'd think that level of star power would make it easy to get off the ground but nothing ever developed; everybody dropped out; and F. Gary Gray stepped into the director's chair. The film disappeared for awhile but Millennium Films are ready to hit the reset button and try again.
THR reports that Gerard Butler will reunite with Gray, who he worked with on Law Abiding Citizen, to star as escaped convict Kane in the bloody shoot 'em up flick. While that's not exactly huge news, the possibility of Vin Diesel joining him is. An offer has been sent out to Diesel to play Lynch, a fellow Death Row inmate who joins with Kane to retrieve some stolen money and save his kidnapped family. The script comes courtesy of Skip Woods (A Good Day to Die Hard) and Kyle Ward (Machete Kills) who know a thing or two about movie violence, obviously.
Obviously somebody sees something in Kane & Lynch which is why the project just won't die. We'll see if this version finally manages to come together.
