Mia Wasikowska Faces her Fear in First 'Tracks' Trailer

There are a couple of movies on the way about women looking to move past their troubles lives by walking thousands of miles. Reese Witherspoon is starring in Wild, based on Cheryl Strayed's memoir about her 1100 mile trek along the Oregon Trail. But one that has already hit the festival circuit is Tracks, which stars Mia Wasikowska as Robyn Davidson, who in 1977 rounded up her dog and four camels to make the 2000 mile hike across the Australian outback. Even with Wasikowska starring and John Curran (The Painted Veil) at the helm, response to the film has been mixed to say the least, but the first trailer suggests a powerful, moving experience.

Backed by M83's 'Outro', the trailer captures the gorgeous Australian landscapes, while Wasikowska's sun-baked visage makes for an especially powerful image. Adam Driver co-stars as a photographer for National Geographic chronicling her journey, with his article providing the inspiration for her book.

Tracks opens in Australia next March but has yet to gain a U.S. date. Get on it, Weinstein.
