Mel Gibson to Star in 'Taken'-Style Action Flick 'Blood Father'
Mel Gibson continues to try and repair his damaged image, but he doesn't seem to be any closer now than he was a few years ago. He's tried melodramtic films like The Beaver, he's tried playing an over-the-top bad guy in Machete Kills, and will go the villain route yet again in The Expendables 3. Since it's probably not the wisest course of action to keep playing heels to change the negative perception, Gibson will go the revenge-thriller route in Blood Father.
Deadline reports Gibson is in talks to work with Mesrine director Jean-Francois Richet in Blood Father, described as a "Taken"-style thriller. With a script from Peter Craig (The Town), the gritty film follows "an ex-con who reunites with his estranged wayward 16-year old daughter to protect her from drug dealers who are trying to kill her."
Sounds a lot like Edge of Darkness, another Gibson action flick nobody saw after his troubles began. Production is set to begin in May.
