Chloe Moretz Joined by Nick Robinson in YA Adaptation 'The 5th Wave'
In rapid order Nick Robinson has emerged as one of Hollywood's top young stars. His breakout performance in The Kings of Summer opened the door for his first major studio project in Jurassic World. But you aren't really anybody until you book an adaptation of a YA sci-fi novel, and now he has by joining the cast of The 5th Wave.
Robinson, along with newcomer Alex Roe, have come aboard the film based on Rick Yancey's popular sci-fi series. Chloe Moretz took the central role back in April and Robinson was mentioned as part of a shortlist to join her back in May. Directed by J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed), the story centers on 16-year-old Cassie who is on the run trying to save her brother as Earth is hit by a fifth alien invasion. Robinson will play Zombie, who Cassie has a crush on but he's now a ruthless killer of aliens. Roe has landed the role of Evan, a boy who may know the aliens' weakness.
The 5th Wave is expected to open in 2015. [THR]
