Now that
Maleficent has continued Disney's run of successful live-action reimaginings, and with
Cinderella coming up next year, the studio has decided the same should work on the small screen. A few months back we learned of
Descendants, a TV movie premiering on the Disney Channel that would center on the children of their most famous villains, including Maleficent. Filming has begun under the guidance of director Kenny Ortega (
High School Musical), and now we have the first image of the young cast.
The photo features Dove Cameron as Maleficent's daughter, Mal; Sofia Carson as Evie, daughter of the Evil Queen; Booboo Stewart, last seen as Warpath in
X-men: Days of Future Past, is Jay, the son of Jafar; and Cameron Boyce as Carlos, Cruella de Vil's son.
Descendants is expected to air in 2015.
