Although we saw a few set images of Michael Rooker as the intergalactic hunter Yondu in Guardians of the Galaxy, he's been pretty much absent from all of the film's marketing. Not that he's expected to be a major character or anything like that, but clearly James Gunn has plans for him which is why he reached out to Rooker for the role. Gunn has now taken to Facebook and teased this image of Yondu, while offering this comment on bringing Rooker into the film...
#gotgpicoftheday Michael Rooker onset as Yondu. You'll be seeing more of him soon. Yondu was not in the original script. I added him and wrote the role specifically for Rooker. I wasn't sure Marvel was going to go for either idea, so I was relieved when they responded enthusiastically to both.
Marvel has also released three new Guardians of the Galaxy posters ahead of the film's August 1st debut, featuring Groot, Gamora, and Rocket Raccoon. With so many colorful characters here's hoping they issue some featuring the supporting cast. Or at least the villains.
