A story over at The Tracking Board says Singer is developing James Hudnall's '90s comic series, Age of Heroes, through his production arm Bad Hat Harry. The original run lasted six issues before it got the axe, and it centered on seven "misfits" in a land ruled by gods. When the gods disappear, the misfits are brought together to battle the monsters and other magical forces that have been set free. Hudnall returned to the Age of Heroes world just last year with a novel, Hell's Reward, that is intended to be the first in a series. If this does indeed happen it will be Alex Hollister writing the script.
There does seem to be some doubt whether the project will come together. Comicbook.com had a scoop from Hudnall himself who said "I can confirm everything in this report. Bryan Singer's company Bad Hat Harry is developing the Age of Heroes as a film. Age of Heroes started as a comic in the 1990s at Image and was novelized last year by me. Link to book."
But a glimpse at Hudnall's Facebook has him admitting he was a bit overzealous in confirming anything so soon....
"I've been asked to take down the article about the film project as it's still early in the development process and they hadn't made an official announcement, sorry. I thought they had when I saw the article."
So we'll see what happens. I remember the comic not being all that good but the novelization is something that is already on my Kindle waiting to be read. It does fit very much in the fantasy/sci-fi mold and that's something Singer has struggled with (Jack the Giant Slayer, anyone?) outside of the X-verse.
