Jessica Chastain, the model of quiet strength and elegance in many of her performances, gets downright nasty in the first trailer for Liv Ullmann's Miss Julie, which is set to make its world premiere as part of the Toronto International Film Festival. She stars alongside a breathy and very randy Colin Farrell in the adaptation of August Strindberg's 1888 play about social class and sexual power.
Set in 19th-century Ireland over the course of one evening, the vain and haughty daughter of an Irish count enters a steamy love affair with her father's top valet. While she wields with strength her aristocratic position, forcing him to kiss her feet in one scene, as a man he too has certain powers, and the struggle between them looks to get very heated. Samantha Morton co-stars as Farrell's fiancee.
