Edgar Wright's Next Film will be 'Baby Driver', not 'The Night Stalker'

If there is an upshot to Edgar Wright leaving Marvel's Ant-Man, a film he had been working on since before Iron Man ever hit theaters, it's that now he's free to do something else. While some had been hoping he would stick around with Disney by going back to his long-gestating remake of Kolchak: The Night Stalker, that never seemed likel given the abrupt manner which he split from the studio. So instead what he'll do is tackle another project that has been sitting around for awhile, and one that promises Wright all the creative freedom he could want.

Deadline reports that Wright will next direct Baby Driver, which has been in the works since he signed a two-picture deal with Working Title about six years ago.  Said to be in the vein of Wright's vaunted "Cornetto Trilogy", it's described as a “collision of crime, action, music and sound.”, closely resembling the description it had before.

The screenplay will be provided by Wright himself and it's said to be on the fast track so we may get this one sooner rather than later. This is great news and a chance to once again see Wright do something he has a personal investment in, rather than slogging through the Marvel/Disney machine.
