Eyes are Windows to the Soul in New Clips and Images from 'I Origins'
It's not often you come across a film that can take an objective look at faith through the lens of science, but Mike Cahill's I Origins is one that does. But it's so much more than that as it combines mystery, romance, and crime thriller elements into a package that won the Alfred P. Sloan Award at Sundance and earned rave reviews, including a glowing one from yours truly. When the film opens later this month it instantly becomes the most unique entry in the sci-fi genre in quite some time, and now you can get a taste of it in a couple of clips and some new images.
Michael Pitt leads the film as a scientist specializing in the human eye, until he meets a beautiful young woman (Astrid Berges-Frisbey) who has eyes unlike anything he's ever seen. His love affair with her evolves into something quite unexpected and far-reaching. Brit Marling, who teamed with Cahill on Another Earth a few years ago, plays Pitt's lab partner and to say more would give away a story that goes in some surprising directions.
Also starring The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun, Cara Seymour, and Archie Panjabi, I Origins opens July 18th.
