First Trailer and Posters for 'Serena' Starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper

In the couple of years since Danish director Susanne Bier completed Serena she's made a romantic comedy in Love is All You Need, and just debuted A Second Chance at TIFF. And yet still we haven't seen Serena in theaters, this despite starring Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper. While it's never a good sign when a film with big names is put on the shelf for so long, Lawrence and Cooper are so bankable that the quality of the movie shouldn't matter. But recently it's looked like things are changing as the U.K. has a release date set for next month, and now today comes the first trailer along with a couple of new posters.

The Depression-era drama stars Lawrence and Cooper as a North Carolina couple struggling to hold on to their timber empire in the face of  trying personal circumstances. The situation becomes worse when they learn she can't get pregnant. So it's a little bit There will be Blood and a little bit Revolutionary Road, but the trailer looks promising even if it gives away too much of the plot.

The only question is when or if we'll ever see it in the U.S. Magnolia has the rights but don't seem to be in any hurry to provide a release date when now would be the perfect time to do it. Perhaps a date can be nailed down after Serena debuts at the London Film Festival.
