There was a period of time when Jennifer Lopez was the hottest actress around, following well-receive performances in Selena, Out of Sight, The Cell, and more. But those days have been gone for awhile (The Back-Up Plan will do that to ya) and she's been looking for a comeback ever since. Whether her new film, a thriller titled The Boy Next Door, is that movie remains to be seen but it has the pieces to be a sleeper hit.
Produced by the marketing geniuses at Blumhouse and directed by Rob Cohen (The Fast and the Furious), The Boy Next Door has Lopez as a woman who is stalked by her young neighbor after having a brief fling. Ryan Guzman, star of the last two Step Up movies, plays the stalker with Kristen Chenoweth, Hill Harper, and John Corbett also on board.
Beyonce (Obsessed) and Halle Berry (The Call) have found success with genre films of this type and there's no reason Lopez can't do the same, especially with a cushy release date next year on January 23rd.
