Return to The Further in the First 'Insidious: Chapter 3' Trailer

There's been a major overhaul  for Insidious Chapter 3, the horror franchise begun by James Wan and Leigh Whannell (both of the Saw movies) with Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne starring. While Wan has been busy prepping Fast & Furious 7, Whannell has stepped behind the camera, and with him comes an all new cast led by Dermot Mulroney and Stefanie Scott. Some things remain the same, though, and the creepy netherworld known as The Further is still wreaking havoc and giving people nightmares.

The first trailer for Insidious: Chapter 3 has arrived and it gets points for maintaining the creepiness of the earlier movies. This one is actually a prequel, bringing back the comedic ghost-busting duo of Specs and Tucker (Whannell and Angus Sampson), along with the always-great Lin Shaye, who also features in this week's Ouija. Here's the official synopsis:

The newest chapter in the terrifying horror series is written and directed by franchise co-creator Leigh Whannell. A twisted new tale of terror begins for a teenage girl and her family, predating the haunting of the Lambert family in the earlier movies and revealing more mysteries of the otherworldly realm The Further.

Insidious: Chapter 3 opens May 29th 2015.
