Christopher Nolan Shot Down 'Man of Steel' Post-Credits Sequence

While Christopher Nolan has pretty much washed his hands of superhero movies after his Dark Knight trilogy, he stuck around long enough to add his two cents to Zack Snyder's Man of Steel. Basically serving as an adviser or consultant, he helped guide the film in a direction that was vastly different from Marvel's light-hearted approach. But it seems the suits at Warner Bros. were keen on stealing at least one idea from Marvel, that of the post-credits sequence.

According to The Guardian in their extensive profile of the director, Nolan flatly refused the idea of adding a Marvel-style post-credits scene, replying with a simple "A real movie wouldn't do that". Ooof. Well, I guess we know how Nolan feels about what Marvel has done with their cinematic universe, but the ball is out of his court now. Warner Bros. seems to be sticking with their grittier, realistic approach to superheroes, a tone established by Nolan, but don't be surprised if something pops up after the credits roll on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. With so many films coming out over the next few years, and the obvious need to plant seeds for the next one, they're going to see that Marvel has been successful using the technique for a reason.
