First Trailer for 'Child 44' starring Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, and Noomi Rapace

Daniel Espinosa won himself a lot of admirers with the Swedish crime thriller Snabba Cash, and the stylish film made him a hot import in Hollywood. His first blockbuster attempt was the Denzel Washington action flick Safe House, which was successful enough that Espinosa is now venturing into very different territory. He's gathered a powerhouse cast for the Cold War drama Child 44, and a very impressive trailer for it has arrived.

Starring Tom Hardy, Joel Kinnaman (Snabba Cash, Robocop), Gary Oldman, Noomi Rapace, and Vincent Cassel, the film is based on the novels by Tom Rob Smith which center on a disgraced MGB agent investigating a series of child murders that lead right to the top of Stalin's Soviet Union. Child 44 opens on April 17th. Check out the synopsis and trailer below.

"A politically-charged serial killer thriller set in 1953 Soviet Russia, CHILD 44 chronicles the crisis of conscience for secret police agent Leo Demidov [Tom Hardy], who loses status, power and home when he refuses to denounce his own wife, Raisa [Noomi Rapace], as a traitor. Exiled from Moscow to a grim provincial outpost, Leo and Raisa join forces with General Mikhail Nesterov [Gary Oldman] to track down a serial killer who preys on young boys. Their quest for justice threatens a system-wide cover-up enforced by Leo’s psychopathic rival Vasili [Joel Kinnaman], who insists “There is no crime in Paradise.”"
