'Gone Girl' Trio David Fincher, Ben Affleck, and Gillian Flynn to Remake 'Strangers On A Train'

Gone Girl was a pretty brutal look at male/female relationships, specifically between married couples, and it featured one Hell of a psychopathic character in "Amazing" Amy Dunne. Now three of the principal players in the adaptation, David Fincher, Ben Affleck, and writer Gillian Flynn, are embarking on another classic tale of murderous spouses by remaking Alfred Hitchcock's Strangers On A Train.

According to Deadline, the trio will reunite for a remake titled simply Strangers. Pay no attention to other sites saying it's titled Strangers On A Plane because there's no truth to it. The story, which is based on the Patricia Highsmith novel Hitchcock turned into a great 1951 film, is in similar thematic territory as Gone Girl. The updated story has Affleck as an actor, in the midst of an Oscar campaign, who gets involved with a wealthy sociopath when his private plane breaks down. Affleck's character is bored of his marriage and wants a divorce, and he strikes a deal with the sociopath to exchange murders so that neither one gets caught. Fincher will direct Affleck based on a screenplay by Flynn.

Warner Bros. is again backing this one, having made a mint on Gone Girl, and the plan is for shooting to take place between Affleck's directing of Live by Night and his role in superhero role in Justice League.
