Brad Pitt, Ryan Gosling, and Christian Bale to Star in Financial Drama 'The Big Short'

What more do you need to know about Adam McKay's financial drama The Big Short other than Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, and Brad Pitt want to be a part of it? Given that a movie about the economic crisis isn't likely to be a big draw having their names attached is a good way to put a few more butts in the seats.

According to Variety, the superstar trio of Pitt, Gosling, and Bale are set to star in The Big Short, which McKay has been on board to write and direct. McKay has been exploring the financial crisis in small doses (remember The Other Guys?) but he's going all in by adapting Michael Lewis' book. Here's the official synopsis:

The real story of the crash began in bizarre feeder markets where the sun doesn't shine and the SEC doesn't dare, or bother, to tread: the bond and real estate derivative markets where geeks invent impenetrable securities to profit from the misery of lower--and middle--class Americans who can't pay their debts. The smart people who understood what was or might be happening were paralyzed by hope and fear; in any case, they weren't talking.

So basically it's a look at the people who brought about the economic crash of 2008. No word on when production could begin but the plan is for the A-list stars, of which there could be more added, to each have similarly-sized roles in a set-up similar to Traffic.
