Felicity Jones to Lead 'Star Wars' Spinoff; Aaron Paul, Edgar Ramirez Up for Roles
Well, those who have been anxious to see Oscar-nominated The Theory of Everything actress Felicity Jones do something a bit different are about to get their wish. Over the last couple of weeks, rumors have shifted to the casting of Gareth Evans' Star Wars spinoff. Names such as Kate Mara, Tatiana Maslany, Rooney Mara, and Jones were up for it, but it was the latter who will be journeying to a galaxy far far away.
THR reports that Jones has scored the female lead in the film, which is rumored to be about bounty hunters' attempts to steal the Death Star plans. Chris Weitz has reportedly taken over as screenwriter, replacing Gary Whitta who left a few weeks ago.
But there's more, as the story also notes that Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are up for the unspecified male lead. You may recall that Paul was recently rumored to be playing a young Han Solo, and the speculation was that it could be for this particular movie. He's since denied those rumors but when it comes to the secrecy surrounding Star Wars all bets are off.
Gareth Edwards' standalone Star Wars film, which hopefully will get a title soon, opens December 16th 2016.
