Meet the 'Fantastic Four' with Four New Images

Good on 20th Century Fox and director Josh Trank for keeping their Fantastic Four reboot close to the vest, even as many speculated it was because the film was in trouble. Most of that talk ceased when an impressive, Chronicle-esque trailer hit a few weeks ago, making it clear this version of Marvel's superhero family is going to be dark, realistic, and unlike any version of the Fantastic Four that has been on screen.

Now we're getting a new look at the film through four new images courtesy of Empire, who spoke with Trank and writer/producer Simon Kinberg. Trank called it his "dark Amblin movie", while Kinberg added "there was an Amblin-style approach to the characterisation, and to contextualising everything in a real world".

Trank would go on to say...

“There’s the opportunity to make something that is challenging and tragic and dramatic. The opportunity is right there in the material. We’d rather steer it in that direction as opposed to just embracing a tone that comes right off the page.”

It has been obvious right from the start this would be a very different Fantastic Four, and it began with casting Michael B. Jordan as Johnny Storm, Kate Mara as his sister Sue Storm, Miles Teller as Reed Richards, and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm, all of whom are featured in these images.

Fantastic Four opens on August 7th.
