Trailer for Marvel's 'Daredevil' Netflix Series starring Charlie Cox and Rosario Dawson

One of the benefits of having a universe as large as the one Marvel has built is that it opens up many different creative outlets. While the big screen movies are pretty much standard superhero fare, which the audiences obviously love, the small screen projects are where Marvel is free to be more experimental. While that hasn't been completely successful with Agents of SHIELD or Agent Carter, what they're attempting with the Daredevil Netflix series is unlike anything we've seen from Marvel yet.

The first trailer for the Daredevil series has been released and it takes you to the gritty streets of Hell's Kitchen. Charlie Cox stars as Matt Murdock, the blind attorney who battles crime as Daredevil, the "Man without Fear". We also get a glimpse of Scott Glenn as his mentor, the enigmatic Stick, plus a glimpse of Rosario Dawson as Dr. Claire Temple. The series also features Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Vincent D'Onofrio as Kingpin, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, and Ayelet Zurer as the Kingpin's lover.

Just how far are Marvel and showrunner Steven S. DeKnight willing to go in pushing Daredevil as a violent, adult-themed series different from the rest of the cinematic universe? This footage doesn't really make it clear.

Prepare to binge watch Daredevil when it hits Netflix on April 10th.
