Whit Stillman Reunites with Chloe Sevigny and Kate Beckinsale for 'Love & Friendship'

Good news for fans of Whit Stillman's The Last Days of Disco; while there won't be a follow-up to that film probably ever (boooo!), it looks like he'll be reuniting with its stars Chloe Sevigny and Kate Beckinsale. While Stillman is apparently still developing his Amazon series, The Cosmopolitans (what's up with that, anyway?), he's moving ahead on a big screen project that has been in the works for awhile.

Stillman will reunite with Sevigny and Beckinsale for Love & Friendship, an adaptation of Jane Austen's novella, Lady Susan, which wasn't published until after her death. Here's the synopsis:

Set in the 1790s, LOVE & FRIENDSHIP concerns itself with beautiful widow Lady Susan Vernon (Beckinsale), who has come to the estate of her in-laws to wait out the colorful rumors about her dalliances circulating through polite society. Whilst ensconced there, she decides to secure a husband for herself and her rather reluctant debutante daughter, Frederica.

The film also stars Xavier Samuel (Adore) as the object of Lady Susan's affections, Stephen Fry as Lady Susan's long-suffering husband Mr. Johnson, plus Emma Greenwell, Morfydd Clark, Jemma Redgrave, James Fleet, Tom Bennett and Justin Edwards. Sevigny will play Lady Susan's confidante, Alicia. [ThePlaylist]
