Will Ferrell Enters 'The House'; Henry Cavill is 'Stratton'; 'Keith Stanfield Joins 'Snowden'
It's going to be a rough year for Will Ferrell characters. In Get Hard he'll do a stint in prison with Kevin Hart, and for his next role he'll play a father who loses everything. Ferrell is set to star in The House, penned by Neighbors co-writers Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brien. Cohen will direct the comedy about "a married couple who lose their daughter's college fund. They team up with their neighbors to start an illegal casino in their basement to earn back the cash." Filming begins in August. [THR]
Henry Cavill will exchange his Superman costume for a special forces uniform. He'll star in Stratton, a military thriller directed by Simon West (Con Air) and based on the first book in Duncan Falconer's series. The rather generic logline describes the story as following "Stratton as he and his team risk life, limb and national security to track down an international terrorist cell." [Deadline]
One of my favorite young actors, Keith Stanfield, has joined Oliver Stone's Edward Snowden thriller. Titled Snowden, the film stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the infamous leaker of NSA documents. Stanfield, who was last seen in Selma and will play Snoop Dogg in Straight Outta Compton, will be an NSA co-worker and close friend to Snowden. Shailene Woodley, Nicolas Cage, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Rhys Ifans, Timothy Olyphant, and Tom Wilkinson co-star. [Deadline]
