Andy Lau Joins Matt Damon in 'The Great Wall' as Full Cast is Revealed

Legendary Pictures has been trying to build their Chinese epic The Great Wall for quite some time with a number of names passing through. Ed Zwick, Henry Cavill, and Benjamin Walker were set for it at one time, but after production stalled and all dropped out, the film got a new lease on life with a new line-up. Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers) came aboard to direct, while Matt Damon and Game of Thrones' Pedro Pascal were rumored to be joining. Now both have been confirmed along with a huge cast of Chinese actors, fitting for a film that will be the most expensive ever shot in China for global distribution.

Joining Damon and Pascal will be Willem Dafoe, plus Chinese stars Andy Lau (Infernal Affairs), Jing Tian, Zhang Hanyu, Eddie Peng, Lu Han, Lin Gengxin,Zheng Kai, Chen Xuedong, Huang Xuan, pop star Wang Junkai, and newcomers Yu Xintian and Liu Qiong. Tony Gilroy wrote the most recent script, which centers on an elite force making a last stand to save humanity on the Great Wall of China.

Lau is a huge get as he's one of China's top stars. He's worked with Yimou on House of Flying Daggers and also starred in Infernal Affairs, which was remade here in America as The Departed.

Filming on The Great Wall begins later this month, and will hit theaters in 3D on November 23rd 2016.
