International Trailer for Disney's 'Tomorrowland' Adds to the Mystery

With a ton of Marvel movies on the way, a whole Star Wars universe, plus a series of live-action retellings of animated classics, Disney has a lot going on. The problem is little of it is truly original, which used to be the hallmark of the revered studio. Perhaps that more than anything else is why so much excitement surrounds Tomorrowland, an original sci-fi/fantasy film from Brad Bird, director of The Incredibles and Mission: Impossible-Ghost Protocol.

A full-length trailer for Tomorrowland was released just a few days ago but there's some new footage in this Japanese version. That includes a deeper look at the plot, which centers on a whip-smart teenage girl (Britt Robertson) who joins with a jaded genius (George Clooney) to uncover the secrets of the mysterious Tomorrowland.  Here's the synopsis:

Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.

Tomorrowland hits theaters on May 22nd.
