Batman may be a Feared Urban Legend in DC's 'Suicide Squad'

With Jared Leto already chopping off his locks and bulking up to play the Joker in Suicide Squad, rumors have been swirling that Ben Affleck could make an appearance as Batman. It would make sense but it could be overkill with a cast that already includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Cara Delevingne, Viola Davis, Jay Hernandez, Joel Kinnaman, and possibly Joe Manganiello with a cameo by Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor. It's a bit much already, but if Batman does appear Latino Review claims to know what he'll be up to. Spoilers below!

The site's El Mayimbe claims that Batman is basically an urban legend during the events of Suicide Squad. Hated by criminals and the government alike, he's like this boogeyman haunting their every move. Prior to the events of Batman v Superman, the Joker is the only one who has ever encountered him, which makes him valuable to Amanda Waller who wants to track the Dark Knight down. Why is the government so interested in Batman? Because they believe he's the key to tracking down "the supers", clearly suggesting that Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and others may be in the team's crosshairs.

Suddenly I'm thinking the Justice League film won't be about facing some huge, planet-destroying villain. It could be a crossover with Suicide Squad. Then again that's assuming any of this is accurate, but right now I like how it sounds. It's a pretty cool way to tie Suicide Squad in with the larger DC Universe. Previous rumors have suggested Batman would only be seen via camera footage, and that seems to connect pretty well with this story. What this also tells me is that Joker is going to be a more important figure than expected.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on August 5th 2016.
