Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij are Headed to Netflix with 'The OA'
Okay, so they aren't Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn, or Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, but the combination of Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij has done some great work together. Between The East and Sound of My Voice they've collaborated on two intense looks at cultures on the fringe. While it's unclear what exactly their next effort together will entail, we know that it will be a drama series for Netflix titled The OA.
Marling will star in and co-write The OA with director Batmanglij. No details on what exactly the series will be except that it will cover eight episodes to air on Netflix some time in 2016.
Marling has been keeping busy on a variety of projects like the British cop sitcom Babylon, the Abraham Lincoln drama The Better Angels, and last year's sci-fi/mystery I Origins, which ended up as one of my favorite movies of 2014. Batmanglij has been a bit quieter but has directed a couple of episodes of M. Night Shyamalan's new series, Wayward Pines.
