AMC is banking hard that audiences want more zombies, specifically the zombies of The Walking Dead. The cable network announced today that The Walking Dead's untitled spinoff has received a two season order and will kick off this summer with a six-episode first season. On top of that, they have released the first two images from the series which stars ethnic chameleon Cliff Curtis, Gone Girl's Kim Dickens, Frank Dillane, and Alycia Debnam Carey.
The series (codenamed Cobalt) will take place in Los Angeles, about as far away from Rick and the characters in The Walking Dead. Curtis plays Sean Cabrera, a divorced teacher, with Dickens as Nancy Tomkins, a guidance counselor with two kids and dark past that may come back to haunt her.
The second season of the companion series will air some time in 2016, assuming its brains aren't squashed by lousy ratings.
