*UPDATE* Rumor: Joe Manganiello Likely to Take Deathstroke Role in 'Suicide Squad'

*UPDATE- The Wrap has confirmed Manganiello's exit from the TV series, Scream Queens, due to scheduling conflicts. While it could have something to do with press commitments for Magic Mike XXL, it's doubtful he'd give up a regular gig for that. So we may be hearing news on him joining Suicide Squad very soon. The original story is below.*

David Ayer's Suicide Squad begins shooting next month, which is why there has been such an incredible flurry of activity lately. Joel Kinnaman finally took over the role of Rick Flag Jr. which Tom Hardy had been set for, his Run All Night co-star Ed Harris is rumored to play his father Rick Flag Sr., and we may also know the team of villains they'll be facing. And now it's looking as if Joe Manganiello, previously rumored for the role of badass killer Deathstroke, has won the role.

Or at least that's what Cinema Blend thinks, saying it's "almost certainty" (uh, "almost" and "certain" don't compute) that Manganiello will play the most lethal assassin in DC Comics. Latino Review throws some fuel on the fire by suggesting Manganiello has dropped out of Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens series to take the role, but nobody else is confirming his exit. Take it with the same skepticism that should be applied with every LR rumor.  Assuming Manganiello isn't available Jason Clarke is still in the mix, unless you believe LR who say he's not. Whatever. More likely to accurate is their assertion that this version of Deathstroke will be pre-super powers and have a militaristic, stealth outfit. He's so tough that he nearly takes out the entire team all by himself, which is exactly what Deathstroke should be capable of.

So? What do you think? Honestly, I'd be happy if they could somehow cast Arrow's Manu Bennett who has been perfect as Deathstroke.  Suicide Squad opens August 5th 2016.
