Alex Garland knows how to keep his fans happy, The writer of The Beach, 28 Days Later, Sunshine, Never Let Me Go, and Dredd has penned five movies that developed quite a cult following. So it's not surprising that Garland would make his directorial debut on Ex Machina, another genre film that has all the ingredients to follow in their footsteps.
Featuring Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson, two stars of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, alongside Alicia Vikander, the sci-fi film is yet another look at artificial intelligence's impact on humanity. Isaac plays a reclusive Steve Jobs-esque CEO who creates a sexy female robot and invites one of his employees to spend time with it. And based on this new trailer, what unfolds will be a really quirky, suspenseful love story. All it really needs is to be better than Transcendence, right?
