Burton is on board to bring the story of the flying pachyderm with the giant ears to the big screen. Transformers writer Ehren Kruger came aboard last summer to pen the screenplay which will follow a human family whose story will parallel Dumbo, who will be rendered in CG. This should work out well for Burton who made a brief departure into semi-normalcy with Big Eyes, one of his most inspired works in years even though it was largely ignored during awards season.
As for when production could begin, it may be little while as Burton needs to finish Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children first. [THR]
