'Training Day' Reunion as Ethan Hawke Joins 'The Magnificent Seven'
The Training Day band is coming back together for a remake of Western classic, The Magnificent Seven. Ethan Hawke has joined star Denzel Washington and director Antoine Fuqua for the film, an updated version of the 1960 original which was a remake of Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai.
While this project may have started off sounding like a bad idea (Tom Cruise was attached initially), it's beginning to look pretty amazing. Chris Pratt and Haley Bennett (who worked with Fuqua and Washington on The Equalizer) are also part of the cast, with plenty more roles to be filled. With Washington, Pratt, and now Hawke it's clear MGM is looking for big names to comprise this group of hired gunslingers.
Training Day led to an Oscar win for Washington and a nomination for Hawke, and now they're looking for a repeat of that success. [Variety]
