Alan Rickman and Olivia Cooke Hunt 'The Limehouse Golem'; Steve Coogan Joins 'Shepherds and Butchers'


 Alan Rickman, Olivia Cooke (Ouija), and Douglas Booth (Jupiter Ascending) will headline The Limehouse Golem, an adaptation of Peter Ackroyd's 1994 novel set in 19th century London. Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service) writing the script with Juan Carlos Medina directing the story of a series of gruesome murders that the Limehouse district citizens believe was committed by a golem. Rickman most recently directed and starred in A Little Chaos, which is in theaters now in the UK. Cooke can be seen every week on AMC's Bates Motel, and stars in this summer's Me and Earl and the Dying Girl.

With Steve Coogan's new Showtime series, Happyish, debuting in just a few days, the actor has landed his next big screen role. He'll star in Shepherds and Butchers, a drama that takes place in post-Apartheid South Africa and follows a jaded lawyer who takes on a hapless multiple homicide case that reveals shortcoming in the South African capital punishment system. The film is written by Brian Cox and directed by Oliver Schmitz (Life, Above All). [Deadline]
