News like this is both exhilarating and frustrating. On the one hand it is incredibly exciting to think we could get new footage of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Star Wars: The Force Awakens within minutes of one another. But at the same time I think Hollywood has strayed into Crazy Land with their trailer teasers.
Latino Review reports that Zack Snyder will debut the first five seconds of the Batman v Superman trailer tomorrow, April 16th, on Twitter at 9am PST (12pm EST). That will be followed by some kind of signup process to see the full trailer in theaters on Monday. So what does that even mean? How would theaters take part in this? And which ones are involved? Does it mean buying a ticket to another movie? Ugh. They say the trailer will then be attached to showings of Avengers: Age of Ultron, although that part of the story is a bit shaky. With 'Ultron' opening internationally on April 22nd this may be a way of getting a jump on the inevitable "leaked" versions of the trailer that will flood the Internet.
If this turns out to be true, the brief tease would be arriving exactly one hour before Star Wars Celebration kicks off and a new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer arrives. So yeah, the idea of getting footage from arguably the two biggest blockbusters on the same day is worth getting hyped over. But five seconds? Come on, Zack.
