Relive the Mad Max Legacy in New 'Mad Max: Fury Road' Trailer

When Mad Max: Fury Road hits the ground running next month it will have been 30 years since the last film, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. That means a large chunk of the film's audience probably wasn't even alive to see any of the Mel Gibson-led flicks, but director George Miller and Warner Bros. are looking to fill in the gaps with a new trailer.

The latest Mad Max: Fury Road trailer delves back into the character's rich legacy of post-apocalyptic action. Tom Hardy takes on the role now, with Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult by his side for what promises to be a heart-stopping thrillride across a brutal desert landscape.

SYNOPSIS: Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone.  Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa.  They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken.  Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.

Mad Max: Fury Road opens May 15th.
