Since there wasn't an awful lot of big news dropped during it, you may not have even known that WonderCon was going on. One of the bigger reveals came from the folks at Blumhouse Productions, who have revealed a brief teaser for the upcoming horror sequel, Sinister 2, a follow-up to the 2012 micro-budget hit directed by Scott Derrickson.
Derrickson has since moved on to direct Marvel's Doctor Strange, and in his place is Ciaran Foy (Citadel). The cast has also been overhauled with Shannyn Sossamon and James Ransone leading this one. As for the teaser itself, the use of grainy video footage immediately recalls some of the prior film's most disturbing scenes, and overall it's an effective way of setting the sequel's mood. The sequel to the 2012 sleeper hit horror movie. In the aftermath of the shocking events in “Sinister,” a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of “Wayward Pines”) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Buhguul continues to spread with frightening intensity.
With a script written by Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, Sinister 2 opens August 21st 2015.
