Ernie Hudson Up for Role in Marvel's 'Black Panther'?
With Chadwick Boseman perfectly cast as Marvel's Black Panther, the Wakandan king (and really, he's like the African Batman of Marvel Comics)is set to debut on the big screen in Captain America: Civil War. Just how much of a part he'll have to play is anybody's guess, but it will all lead to a solo film in 2018. Now a rumor has surfaced regarding another major role in the film, that of Black Panther's father, T'Chaka.
According to Latino Review's El Mayimbe, Ghostbusters' Ernie Hudson is in line to play King T'Chaka, the father of T'Challa and the man who wore the Black Panther mask previously. Now, if T'Chaka is in the film that all but guarantees we'll see Andy Serkis as the villain Ulysses Klaw since it was Klaw who murdered him. T'Chaka tried to protect Wakanda from the outside world that he knew would come seeking to steal their supply of Vibranium, the unique metal from which Captain America's shield was crafted.
Hudson hasn't been seen much on the big screen lately, although he definitely keeps busy on TV and on the festival circuit.
Take this as a rumor for now, and there's no need for Marvel to rush in making any announcements. Black Panther doesn't arrive in theaters until July 6th 2018.
