'Furious 7' Director May Direct 'Robotech'; Still in Talks for 'Aquaman'

Sony isn't wasting anytime launching their newly-acquired Robotech franchise. Last month we learned they planned to push forward on a live-action film based on the popular anime series, and already they are lining up a director in Furious 7's James Wan.

Wan, whose Furious 7 has already banked $1.3B worldwide, is in talks to direct Robotech, a live-action film based on the sprawling sci-fi series about humans who use futuristic technology to battle the alien Zentraedi. Robotech was known not only for its grand, operatic space battles, but for deep human characterization.

Apparently this wouldn't stand in the way of Wan's possible gig directing Warner Bros.' Aquaman film, which he's now been offered. He also may return for Universal's Fast & Furious 8, and is expected to be at the helm for The Conjuring 2. There's no way he can do them all, and while some studios may be willing to wait for a director of his stature they won't sit idle forever. [THR]
