Hugh Jackman is 'Apostle Paul'; Mark Wahlberg Eyes 'Patriot Day';' Ansel Elgort Confirmed for 'Baby Driver'

Hugh Jackman whose days as the X-Men's Wolverine appear to be numbered, has signed on for a project far outside the world of super-powered mutants. He's agreed to star in Apostle Paul, a faith-based drama penned by Matt Cook (Triple Nine) and produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. Jackman will play the real-life religious figure, known for spreading the gospel of Christ in the first century. No director has been found as of yet. [Deadline]

As the trial of Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev winds down, a new feature film based on the tragedy is taking shape with Mark Wahlberg in the lead role. He's in talks to star in Patriot's Day, taking the role of boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis. Davis' first-hand accounts of the event and subsequent manhunt informed Matt Charman's (Bridge of Spies) screenplay. Daniel Espinosa has a rival project on the way in Boston Strong, which has Casey Affleck set to star. [Deadline]

After being rumored for the role back in January, Ansel Elgort is now confirmed to headline Edgar Wright's next film, Baby Driver. The story, which Wright also wrote, follows a young getaway driver who uses the beat of his personal soundtrack to be the best. When a heist for a crime boss goes wrong, he must face the music when his life, love, and freedom are threatened. Elgort can be seen in theaters now in Insurgent, and will be seen next in November Criminals opposite Chloe Moretz.  [Variety]
