James Wan Developing a Remake of 'The Entity'

The Entity is one of the more curious horrors of the '80s, not that it's trying to be a comedy or anything like that. The film starred Barbara Hershey as a woman who is terrorized by an invisible presence, including a scene in which she is violently raped by this unseen force, with a blaring "drama sting" to drive home the assault. So when anybody mentions The Entity, the first thing that springs to mind is how silly it kind of was, and now The Conjuring's James Wan is going to remake it. Good luck.

According to THR, Wan and The Conjuring screenwriters Chad and Carey Hayes will reteam on a remake of The Entity. At this point Wan, who is coming off the $1B-grossing Furious 7, is only on board to produce. The original 1982 film was directed Sidney J. Furie based on a book by Frank De Filetta.

Wan will next direct The Conjuring 2 which is set to open on June 10th 2016.
