New Trailer and Posters for N.W.A. Flick 'Straight Outta Compton'

For old school hip-hop heads flipping on the radio nowadays can be a frustrating experience. What they call rap music nowadays simply....well, isn't. The energy, the ferocity, the fearlessness, the awareness of the genre is sorely missing, probably never to return. And if you want an example of how the music really made an impact then look no further than N.W.A., who pioneered the gangsta rap scene and terrified some people in the process. There story is coming to theaters this summer with Straight Outta Compton, and a new trailer has arrived for the film that is set to blow up the spot.

Starring Ice Cube's son O'Shea Jackson Jr., Jason Mitchell, Corey Hawkins, Aldis Hodge, Paul Giamatti, Alexandra Shipp, Neil Brown Jr., and Keith Stanfield as Snoop Dogg, the F. Gary Gray-directed film takes us through the rap group's meteoric rise to fame and the inner turmoil that ultimately tore them apart. The tone of this one is right on point, and many of the actors are such dead-ringers for their counterparts it's worth making a double take.

Straight Outta Compton hits theaters on August 14th. Check out the trailer plus some photos and character posters. I'm just glad MC Ren and DJ Yella are being given their due.
